No progress on figuring out what’s going on with my monitor. It basically goes black for a couple seconds and then comes back. It’s infrequent and I cannot make it happen on purpose. I can deal with it if it doesn’t get worse but in my experience issues like that always get worse. Really hoping it’s a cable or something and not the monitor itself.
I had an issue very similar to that a few years ago, nearly identical in fact, and it turned out that the power cable to the monitor was just barely hanging on to the plugin on the back of the monitor. So I pushed it in firmly all the way and that fixed the issue. Make sure your monitor is off and unplugged from the wall power first before fiddling with the power cables.
The regular gate guard called in sick and they didn’t want to pay overtime for a replacement 😉
Always check the easiest things first, like power cords and other cables, they have a habit of working themselves loose, with or without furry help, just walking near them or trucks going by can be enough vibration over a long time. Then reseat the video card, turning things on and off can cause them to work their way out as the connectors expand just a teeny bit when hot then shrink again when they cool down and not all of them have a screw holding the card in place, especially if someone else built it.
90% of the fixes on A/C and the electronic boxes therein consisted of unplugging then plugging in again, or the infamous ‘two foot drop test’ (or a good kick) aka ‘percussive maintenance’ to reseat the cards/tubes/connectors/etc.
