The portable AC unit I ordered came yesterday and so far has been very effective at cooling my room. I slept decently last night and my roommate was so impressed she ordered a second one. They should at least be able to keep us from dying due to the heat. I have no idea at the moment how we'll be able to replace the central air. The best quote I've gotten so far is for about $8000 which is more than I earn in a year.

I'm hoping to take a stab at livestreaming again maybe today or tomorrow but the AC unit is pretty loud so I don't know if it will interfere with the audio too much.

We cool a hundred year old two story house with two $150 window units, you can chill beer on the bedroom dresser.
Electricity cost is negligible, maybe a couple of dollars a month in the summer and nothing in the rest of the year.
It was 30C the other day, we were quite comfy inside.
