They're coming to install the new heat pump tomorrow so we'll have AC again. It's going to be expensive but hopefully the house being a comfortable temperature will make working on commissions easier. If I end up doing that job from tuesday it'll only be about a shift a week, so I still need to take as many commissions as I can get.

Idle observation that comes up a lot…. water flows downhill. Your well to get water typically will NOT be on a hilltop. ‘Jack and Jill’ was a NONSENCE song. Going UP a hill to get a pail of water is crazy talk.
But, dream sequence in a magic fantasy world, so, hilltop wells are perfectly viable.

Unless it’s a lava pipe or a limestone fissure or other fault funneling the water up, that’s one heck of a water table…
Nobody’s building anything in that valley, not with a basement anyway.
